Elevation Studies
Okay, okay, but you have to understand that thee are preliminary sketches of possible elevations, with fenestration indicated but in no way definite. As much as I'm intrigued by cementitious clapboarding or vertical siding, it would seem too stark. Instead the siding will, in all likelihood, be cedar shingles, something we grew to like very much at the Middle Road house. Standing seam metal roofs, glazed double doors, and either transoms or clerestory windows pretty much wraps it up. At some point the courtyard will be defined by a covered pergola, walled on one side and thus acting as a fence to protect the world from benevolent dachshunds. I love the sound of that pergola--and the idea of having benevolent dachshunds in the neighborhood once more (also like the shingles).
